AI and RPA, a golden combination
You will undoubtedly have noticed that AI is currently the topic of discussion. The rapid development of this technology is already bearing fruit in many areas, and this also offers us many new opportunities. Recently, we used AI for the first time in an RPA robot that is running in production and we are impressed by the level of accuracy that can already be achieved. The overall trend is only going to increase the influence of AI, so we would like to share our views on this.
Current application of AI in RPA robots
As mentioned, we used AI in an RPA robot for the first time, specifically for recognizing and storing certain data from supplied documents. We then use this data as input for the robot. Without AI, we would have to write a laborious script to do this and specify exactly where the required information is in the text. With around 40 variables, this is time-consuming and maintenance-sensitive.
The sometimes big differences in structure between different documents do not make this process easier. Using AI, after having delivered and processed a number of training documents, we can provide new documents and the location of the requested information is automatically recognized. The best thing about this technology is that it continuously improves itself. We see that with a small number of training documents, the accuracy is almost perfect, so you can imagine that this process works so efficiently that it quickly leaves nothing to be desired. We are very enthusiastic about this and are already thinking about other options to make processes even better with the help of AI.
Other AI application options
A more general possible use of AI that we're excited about is the ability to systematically apply the technology for a customer who would like to implement it in a particular process. This includes the automatic generation of texts that are normally written manually. This is logically a laborious process manually, so it can potentially save a lot of time (and costs). Specifically, in this example, certain keywords could then be provided, with a number of examples of what the text should look like. This way, AI can generate a new text with the desired structure, including the keywords. Of course, you can offer this to an AI service yourself, but then the manual part in the form of cutting and pasting still remains in the process. We can fully automate this, even as part of a larger RPA process. This example is just one of the many possible applications of AI in combination with RPA.
AI and VionA
Of course, at VionA, we are closely monitoring developments in AI and with great interest. If you want to start using AI but you're not sure how yet or if you need help with this in any other way, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We'll be happy to answer your questions, discuss any concerns you may have, and see if the application can be productive for your organization.
